Scalp Treatments
Hair Transplantation
During follicular unit transplantation, Dr. Gambino excises a single strip of hair from the lower back of the head - the donor area (hair which is genetically programmed never to fall out). Each follicular unit, the hair follicle and its one to four hairs, is removed from the scalp in a single follicle graft to achieve a high yield of hair. To prevent follicular damage and prevent a plug look, each hair and its piece of the follicle is removed under a powerful microscope using stereo microscopic dissection and transplanted to recipient sites in the thinning or balding areas of the head or pubic region. Tricophytic closures allow hairs to grow within the fine donor area scar, virtually making it invisible. Since the hair follicle remains intact, grafted hair receives nourishment from their new scalp or body area and begin to grow in approximately six to fifteen weeks. The result is natural looking and will remain for years to come.
Dr. Gambino's distinctive technique artfully transplants the hairline, the crown, and the whorl on the back of the head, to accommodate current and future hair loss. Rogaine®
Rogaine® is a topical over-the-counter treatment containing minoxidil to stimulate hair growth. Men's Rogaine® and Women's Rogaine® are used daily to rejuvenate diminished hair follicles and increase hair growth. Application is uncomplicated, and many patients achieve remarkable results in the early stages of hair thinning and balding.
Propecia®
Propecia® is a convenient once-a-day prescription pill designed to treat male-pattern baldness. It contains finasteride, an enzyme-blocking agent which lowers levels of follicle-shrinking hormones. Many patients achieve significant hair growth using Propecia®.
Pubic Transplants
Pubic hair loss is a hidden problem that causes extreme embarrassment and emotional distress to women. Often occurring after menopause, it can make a woman feel less feminine and attractive. Dr. Gambino pioneered pubic hair transplantation in Italy as a definitive solution to this problem. Using the same advanced harvesting techniques as scalp transplantation- single hair follicles are transplanted to the pubic region recreating a natural full look. Grafted hairs begin to grow in six to fifteen weeks, assuming the natural characteristics of pubic hair.
Women's Hair Loss
Female hair loss, characterized more by thinning than by complete balding, is rooted primarily in hereditary, hormonal, and medical causes. Treatment is tailored to the patient and can include follicular unit transplantations, Sunetics laser treatments, and Rogaine®.
Sunetics Model "E" Laser
